5A learning in the Garden

In our kitchen garden session our group harvested and washed the beans and then we gave the beans to the class to eat. We also packed some seeds we collected for the fete 50 in each bag. We packed dill and sun flower seeds. Each week we learn different things.

Other groups learnt about, and found, the pH of the soil, mulched garden beds, harvested parsnips and turnips and planting celery and rocket seedlings that we have grown from seeds.

Great, Grubby Garden

In this super garden, we do lots of fun activities. Today we dried rosemary and thyme, read and recorded the temperature of the soil, harvested turnips, chilli and beans, mulched the soil and planted celery seedlings. We actually found a cut worm which is very harmful to plants. To dry thyme and rosemary, you cut it, tie four in a bunch and suspend it in bags.We cut holes in the bags so we could see the thyme and rosemary as it dries. They looked like little charms.
