Explain your thinking using the thinking routine \u201cI used to think\u2026.Now I think\u2026\u2026.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Year 5 Kitchen 2 lessons<\/strong><\/em><\/h1>\n<p><strong>CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING FROM A,B,C and <u>document all of your learning in your KGP Book Creator&nbsp;<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Food diary and food waste&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>Put yourself into one of the following categories: Are you someone who wastes: very little food, some food or a lot of food.<\/li>\n<li>Write down all the food you throw out over the next 3 days (you may like to create a table to record the information) include &#8211;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>The amount and type of food that is thrown away at the end of each meal<\/li>\n<li>Where you are throwing these items e.g. into a rubbish bin, compost bin, worm farm<\/li>\n<li>Food that is past it\u2019s used by date or has gone bad in the fridge or pantry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>At the end of the 3 days \u2013<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Put yourself into one of the following categories: Are you someone who wastes &#8211; Very little food, Some food, A lot of food<\/li>\n<li>List the reasons why you threw food away.<\/li>\n<li>What are some strategies to help people cut down on food waste at home? Consider the following:&nbsp; meal planning, storage of food, portion size<\/li>\n<li>Has the category you put yourself into at the beginning of the activity changed?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Read and watch 3 of the very interesting episodes of this awesome food education resource \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/phenomenom.com.au\/infographic\/\">Phenomenom\u2019<\/a> and write down 3 main points raised in each of the stories or articles you have chosen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>B <strong>Regrowing Food using Kitchen Scraps<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.<strong>Re-grow seasonal vegetables in the kitchen that you would normally go to compost or even throw in the bin eg. lettuce, carrot, spring onion, celery, beetroot, coriander, etc.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use the following links as a guide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/video\/regrowing-food-from-kitchen-scraps-7fqero\/\"><strong>Regrowing Food From Kitchen Scraps<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Pick another 2-3 vegetables and research how to grow them or come up with your own methods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Read and watch 3 of the very interesting episodes of this awesome food education resource \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/phenomenom.com.au\/infographic\/\">Phenomenom\u2019<\/a> and write down 3 main points raised in each of the stories articles.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Make sure you take a photo at each step and include it your KGP book creator and\/or film yourself. <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Cook at home under adult supervision<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The recipes below use fresh, seasonal produce that is currently ready to harvest in our school garden.<\/p>\n<p>Choose one of the following recipes below to cook under adult supervision.
